Static Var Compensator (SVC)

Application: Used in 0.4~35kV system as reactive power compensation of fast changing  load, controlling various power quality problems caused by load, e.g. harmonic, voltage

Series Reactor / Shunt Reactor

Application: used in 6/10/35kV system. 
Series reactor: limit the closing surge and harmonic current of the capacitor bank, form harmonic suppression circuit together with the capacitor for restraining wave distortion in grid voltage and controlling harmonic components flowing through the capacitor. 
Shunt reactor: used in long-distance EHV transmission system and connected in parallel at the LV winding side of the substation, used for reactive power compensation of long distance and low load transmission line.

Features: dry-type air-core series, low noise, good linearity, low eddy current loss, better ability to withstand short circuit current
